Miley Cyrus: Bangerz (2013)

Man, this girl can not only SING, but she has laid down a pretty impressive album.

I was watching Matthew Schuler sing "Wrecking Ball" on this season's The Voice (which was pretty meh), and I realized I actually liked the song. The lyrics are particularly meaningful to me, and the video was interesting, to say the least. I watched it after her MTV VMAs performance, so I saw more of the same blatant coming-of-sexuality, which I must admit I judged right off the get-go.

I was ready to write her off until I gained new perspective. Someone argued that Cyrus' performance at the VMAs was in fact AWESOME. It was a girl embracing her woman side, her sexuality, and was doing it REGARDLESS of what society had to say about it. And when I saw it in that light, I found myself rooting for Miley, instead of judging her.

Yeah, Bangerz is definitely influenced by Rihanna (and all the other major artists out there in her genre). I even dare say it's a case of wanna-be. But she's doing her thang (Track 11 will prove it to ya), and I find that the way she comes of is as real as she's going to get. Meaning, she's real. She likes Rihanna's sound, and others', so she's gonna go for it. And fuck yeah, because she does it well and it rocks.

Plus bitch is straight up SEXY.
